If you’re constantly hiding beneath longer sleeves or cautious when waving or raising your arms, you’re not alone. Loose and hanging skin and tissue along the upper arms is an extremely common problem that many women and men face as they get older or lose significant amounts of weight. An arm lift can help to reduce the excess skin and tissue to create a younger, firmer shape for your arms that you’ll be confident in showing off at all times.
What is an arm lift?
With age, weight loss, and a number of other life factors, the skin and tissue along your upper arms can begin to droop and sag. Once there is a loss of elasticity, it is next to impossible to tone and tighten the arms with just exercise alone. This is because the skin does not depend on how fit or muscular your arms are, but rather how well your skin is able to bounce back to its slimmer contours.
An arm lift helps by reshaping the underlying tissue to achieve a more youthful contour of the arms by reducing excess skin to maintain a firm and tight look and feel. The arm lift is a contouring procedure that can help to remove some excess fat as well, if indicated. Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini may recommend pairing your arm lift with liposuction surgery in order to target any stubborn fat cells that may linger around your arms.
Am I a good candidate for arm lift surgery?
If you are unhappy with the look of your arms due to loose skin and have been unable to achieve your desired results on your own, a personalized arm lift surgery with Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini can be an extremely rewarding procedure.
Women and men who choose arm lift surgery experience a number of benefits, including:
- Tighter, younger-looking arm contours
- No more “jiggle” when waving or raising arms
- Increased confidence in everything from a t-shirt to a bikini
What to expect during your arm lift recovery
Once your arm lift is complete, Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini will dress your arms with gauze and any necessary compression garments or sleeves. This will help the skin and tissue to heal properly, as well as minimize any post-surgical swelling. There will be some initial bruising and swelling, and your incision lines will be fairly visible. Gradually all scars remodel and become less noticeable.
Dr. Karlinsky-Bellini will provide you with detailed care instructions to help during your recovery period. She will also provide you with her personal cell number in case you have any questions or concerns during this time. Most arm lift patients are able to return to work within a week after surgery. However, any heavy lifting and strenuous exercise will need to be avoided for at least 2-3 weeks as your arms continue to heal.
Our favorite part about arm lift surgery is seeing the excitement in each patient’s eyes when they realize their newly sculpted arms. We love seeing your photos of confidently raising your unhidden arms while fully enjoying some Florida sun.
